My Work 

I have been in Wellington for the past 2 weeks helping the team get the next release ready. Over the past few days I have focussed on the following:

Flash based charting and reports

• Creating a number of dynamic charting tools that read off an XML data stream.
• Reusable controls with dynamic properties that can be bound to the charts to filter and redraw on the fly

Page weight reduction
After receiving (constructive) criticism from the public about the overall size and download time of our first version home page we realised we had overlooked an important issue. After removing unused scripts, consolidating stylesheets, optimising images and enabling web server traffic compression I was able to reduce the page weight from over 1mb to under 200kb. This improvement (along with the spiffy new server hardware) will greatly improve the user experience.
