Juglone tolerance

Choosing suitable companion plants for walnuts is difficult because these trees are alleopathic, secreting a substance called juglone that suppresses competing plants. There are very few species that grow well and thrive under the canopy of a walnut tree or in close proximity to its roots. This list details a number of useful species that apparently tolerate walnut juglone.
