Tasman Street - Wellington
I moved to Wellington to pursue work in the IT industry. When I left Christchurch I packed my possessions into a little blue car and drove north. It was summer and very hot. My car didn’t like being so burdened in the heat of the day and so the trip was long and slow.
The land of my youth slipped away and the ferry transported me across the strait to a new city and the future.
My first flat was an amazing location on Tasman street in Mount Cook. Having once been a part of the old hospital complex it had a large area of grass and some old trees. The whole place was later destroyed and replaced with a high-rise apartment complex.
I shared with a bunch of interesting people, including Anthony the skinhead, Dave, Flyn and Rosie. Although the living quarters were a little characterless we did what we could to create an interesting atmosphere.
