Loquat, Japanese Medlar

Details   In this country normally seen as a rather splendid shrub with large, leathery, toothed leaves, up to 12 ins. long, dark glossy green above and woolly below. The beautiful and fragrant, yellowish-white flowers are borne in late summer or early autumn and, very occasionally, followed by edible, pear-shaped fruits. Well worth growing for its noble foliage. Needs a sheltered position. Seeds are despatched from cold storage and should be sown IMMEDIATELY ON RECEIPT.
